Brain Tumour Research

Mum has just handed me a copy of the Western Morning News, containing an article by a former Emergency Medical Technician with Southwestern Ambulance Service (the trust for whom I worked) about his father’s death from a brain tumour and the lack of research funding. Peter Jordan has been appointed as a community fundraising manager for the charity Brain Tumour Research. It turns out that the Brain Tumour Research Centre of excellence is at Plymouth University.

I hadn’t realised that brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other tumour, yet brain tumour research accounts for just 1% of the total cancer research spend. National Brain Tumour Awareness Month began on Tuesday; it culminates with Wear a Hat Day on Thursday, March 24th.
